The overlapping pocket-style opening keeps the contents contained without adding the weight or bulk of a zipper or drawstring.

We have all been there. You roll up your fleece into a “pillow” and it stays that way for 1 min at most. Regular round stuff sacks just end up lumpy. Here you can stuff your items and they will stay in place due to the design. Sure an extra item, but basically no extra weight. To me, a good night's sleep is worth the extra 0.4 oz weight.
