Notes
Using trekking poles allows the tarp to be configured in porch mode, creating a more open setup and increasing the usable space beneath the tarp.
Finished weight will vary depending on the selected fabric, tarp width, edge configuration, pole system, tie-out configuration, and optional accessories.

My wife and I made a two pocket hammock. The spreader bars at each end made it a tight fit under any standard tarp I could find. Jared’s custom tarp is the fit I was looking for! Construction appears rock solid, though I’ve only had it up in the back yard, it was up for more than a week straight, and it kept everything under it dry during some heavy rains and withstood some strong-ish winds. It’s light too.
Ordered the custom 13’ tarp XL width with Ridge runner spaced pullouts and received it in time for a 3 day trip I had planned. My RR hammock fits perfectly with room to spare on each end. The extra width is great for storm coverage and a huge space to hang out or cook in porch mode. I had previously made 8.5mm aluminium crossbar poles for the pullouts from another tarp and they worked perfectly after adding a small shock cord loops to the tie outs. It’s a little more weight than just using cordage, but the extra headroom and width is appreciated for my 6’2” height. Stitching was excellent, and after a solid PNW rain storm I confirmed no additional waterproofing was necessary. Awesome sauce. I’ll be using this for all my 3 season hammock trips from now on. Also planning to use this as a big porch for my ground dwelling trips. Can’t recommend this tarp or Simply Light enough! I tell all my hiking friends to check here first for gear.
This is my second tarp from Jared. The first one was a 9’ x 7’ Trailduster for ground camping in Xenon. I liked the fabric and construction. I am giving hanging a try so I picked up the Trail Haven in the same fabric. Had it out recently and once again really enjoyed it. It’s just a solid tarp and super lightweight.
Super fast turnaround and fairly priced, yet exceptionally high quality build materials and worksmanship. SLD is a unicorn and worth every penny.
Jared is amazing - very responsive, answered all my emails & really helped me make the right choices & the tarp (blue color with internal ridge line + Stingerz, skin stuff sack & reflective cord) arrived very quickly. The rain & floods in Northern Vermont have not been cooperative for hiking; but I finally got out on the Long Trail with my tarp/hammock set up & am happy to report that it functioned perfectly - keeping heavy rain off me. I got the internal ridge line as a whim; but I have to say, it is very important. I hang my wet socks, etc on it & they are mostly dry in the morning....better than hanging them on the hammock ridge line. I'm also really glad I got the skin stuff sack. It makes setting up & taking down so easy. I highly recommend this tarp & Simply Light Designs. I will definitely purchase more as I extend hammock thru hiking into the winter. Thank you, Jared & Simply Light for your high quality, well made & designed tarp.
