The Eclipse Top Quilt is the perfect complement to your hanging experience.  When used in conjunction with a UQ, it maximizes heat retention for a toasty night, no matter the conditions.

It utilizes Apex Climashield insulation and either Argon 90 or Ion fabrics as your shell material.  I am currently keeping the 2.5, 3.6, 5.0 and 6.0 weights in stock.  I am currently not offering it in the 7.5 oz or 10.0 oz weights.

Features:

  • Made from using Dutch's Ion fabric or the Argon (49, 67 or 90) line of materials (custom fabrics are possible as well)
  • Synthetic Apex Climashield insulation for ideal performance in wet conditions
  • Generous length for the option to pull quilt over face if desired
  • Length - Short (up to @ 5’6”), Regular (up to @ 6’2”), Long (over 6’2”)
  • Length Measurements - Short - 72"; Regular - 78"; Long - 84"
  • Width - Standard (@ 49/50” wide) or Wide (@ 57/58” wide, good for broad shoulders)
  • Sewn Foot Box
  • 4 loop sets on top half of quilt for options to secure to pads or cinching up closer to body
  • Includes stuff sack
  • Weight will vary depending on options chosen (see below chart) **

Additional Options:

  • Optional Compression Sack (long term storage in a compression sack is not advisable.  Letting your UQ air as much as possible will extend its longevity)
  • The top edge of the quilt can be customized with no collar for a simple, no frills approach.  A regular cinch collar (.4 oz) helps to keep the quilt closer to the neck, blocking drafts. Or an insulated draft collar (1.5 oz) helps with drafts and heat retention as well.
  • Footbox sizes are customizable
    - Small - 36" Circumference - Up to around size 8 Men's
    - Regular - 40" Circumference - Good to size 12 Men's
    - Large - 46" Circumference - Size 13 Men's and up
  • Optional oversized storage sack made from NoSeeUm netting allows quilt to loft and breathe while not in use

3.6oz Eclipse quilt Long/Std

Just so easy. I think I ordered this on a Friday and it shipped out the following Monday? Just got back from using this quilt for a week with a nighttime low of ~45F and windy/rainy. The 40F rating of 3.6oz seemed pretty much dead on, never noticed the temp unless there was a draft. I'm a big fan of the cinch collar. I wouldn't try a "cinch only" collar below freezing just because I'm such a cold sleeper, but it worked great in warmer temps. Very happy with how this turned out, simple quilt worked well.

Quality comfort top quilt

I recently received my 50 degree top quilt.
All my other top quilts are down, but I wanted a warmer weather quilt, I don't know why I had the stupid idea that a synthetic quilt would feel stiff and uncomfortable, compared to down. It was a foolish notion, because I already owned a SLD under quilt, so I should have known what they would feel like.
This quilt is very comfortable and soft, it lays and drapes nice, I couldn't be happier.
I normally wait to write reviews, but in this instance it's not necessary. I've been a SLD customer for probably 10 years and multiple orders over the years, there is no question that the quality and service are second to none and always at excellent prices too.

Excellent Summer Quilt and Stack Quilt

I ordered the Eclipse TQ last year and wanted to wait until I used it several times prior to doing a review.

I am happy to say the Eclipse fits the bill if you are looking for a nice summer weight quilt ( I have the 40 Deg 3.6oz in Argon 90 ). Being made of synthetic Apex, I don't worry about those misty mornings or heavy damp days as much as I would a Down quilt, however if you want to stack quilts, this will also serve you well as an outer quilt in colder temps over a down quilt or bag to boost your ratings and stop condensation getting to your down.

I made this decision when I was using my 20 Degree Bandit quilt during a couple of rather warm summer nights on trail and felt I was cooking like a burrito. I considered a summer down quilt rated at 40 deg F but since my entire setup is from Jared I figured why not try the Eclipse. Since then I've been very happy with this quilt for those summer nights and know it will work well stacked if temps drop into the teens or single digits.

for the price and quality this is hard to beat.

Eclipse, trailwinder, more

I dont write reviews often (ever), but I must say that my experience with SLD was awesome and Jared earned a customer for all my hammock needs. I first purchased an argon trailwinder in 3.6 and a silnylon simplicity tarp for my Blackbird xlc and they are perfect. I already had a wookie but wanted a warm weather synthetic uq for the wet southern Appalachian summers. SLD trailwinder was highly recommended on hammock forums so I went for it after several informative emails. The trailwinder is now my favorite uq. I then bought the eclipse tq in 2.5 and it is perfect........simple, super light, and well made. No bells and whistles but perfect function and quality at a great price. The mesh tarp skins (1 asymmetrical, 1 regular) were well made and make tarp management super easy. Now considering an ultralight trail lair and a catchall sack for the whole shebang. Don't hesitate to buy from SLD, you can feel confident spending your hard-earned money on high-quality gear at a great price from a hard working American business. He is fast, responsive, and prices are very competitive. All attributes difficult to find in this global economy.

Great Top Quilt!

Simply Light Designs does quality work and the Eclipse Top Quilt is no exception. I purchased the 6.0 oz Long Wide version in Ion fabric, and the total weight including the stuff sack is 32 ounces. I am 6'6" tall, and the length fits me very well-- enough quilt to pull over my chin with some slack remaining. The width allows me to comfortably lay in a figure-4 with plenty of coverage. For a synthetic material, the Ion fabric is comfortable and soft to the touch. The Climashield insulation is very packable, and my entire quilt can compress to the size of a soccer ball.
