The Catch-All Sack is designed to accommodate all your hanging gear in one easy-to-use stuff sack. Sized to hold not only a hammock, but quilts, sleeping gear, bug nets, accessories. Works similar to a 2-ended stuff sack, but on a larger scale. Instead of packing up each piece of gear individually, simply pull the sack up over everything, cinch shut the head end, and pack away. In terms of determining what length or width, that will depend on what you want to accomplish.  Originally, the Catchall was designed as just an oversized stuff sack.  So, the 8' length in standard width is usually large enough to accomodate most hammock/quilt set ups.  It is roughly 4,750 cubic inches* (or 78 liters) when stuffed and closed.  So, if all you are looking for is a large stuff sack to hold everything, the 8' one is ideal.

However, many find it advantageous to keep everything in the Catchall, go ahead and hang the hammock up, and then deploy the sack to one end of the hammock.  So, if you are looking to do that, getting a Catchall longer than your ridgeline length would be the way to go (remember that when you close the ends, you will lose roughly 8” on length for standard and about 12” on length for Winter version).

As far as width, standard is generally sufficient for most set ups as well.  However, with some of the bulkier winter set ups, it is less of a challenge to pack things away with the winter version.

Sil versions (silnylon, silpoly, xenon sil) are available in two designs - vented and non-vented.  A narrow strip of NoSeeUm netting can be sewn down the length of the Catch-All to allow air to escape more easily.  However, if you still want a full sil version for maximum protection, that is an option in the drop down menu.

Fabric choice will depend on what you are wanting to accomplish.  Sil versions are waterproof, and can now be vented for easier air evacuation.  Mesh versions are highly breathable, but can pick up debris easier.

*Volume of Cylinder = Height * π * r². So, 86" (you lose 10" in length when Catchall is stuffed and closed) * π * 4.2² = 4,765 cubic inches.  For reference, the stuff sacks that my heaviest UQ and TQ  come in are roughly 1500 & 1200 cubic inches respectively.

    Great company, great gear

This is a great piece of gear. I recently purchased the Catch all sack and got a chance to use it on a 16 mile winter overnight trip. I reached out to Jared and asked about a custom size (9’ length, 16” width, vented) for my Ridge Runner hammock setup (UQ, TQ, & SLD pillow) which he was happy to oblige. I ordered it a week before my trip and received it with time to spare. It makes deploying and packing up a breeze. The small weight penalty is totally worth it on a 12 degree morning when you just want to quickly pack up and get back on the trail. The build quality is superb and I have no doubt it’ll get many years of use. Customer service is fantastic and I’ll definitely keep coming back.

    awesome brand

I have ordered a few things from simply light designs. I have been extremely impressed with all of them and he even puts a personal touch/note to each one. We all live in a fast paced world and he has done this every time and even spelled my name (which is unique) correctly. Simple things like that speak volumes to me. I would highly recommend to anyone.

    Bag it up!

The catch all works great, it allows me to secure my gear, all together in a short minute or two. Takes way more time to separate and stuff individual items. I also have an indoor hang area setup in my bonus room, makes it quick to clear room or get the hammock set up. Will have to grab at least one more for my other setup soon. Great job on the construction quality, Jared knows his stuff.

    Simplify your setup

This product is severely under-rated and under-discussed in the hammocking community. I've been using these for years to simplify setup and takedown at a campsite. Once this has captured everything (hammock, liner, bag/pod/quilt, bug net) you can easily just throw this in the backpack and move on. I haven't found anywhere else that makes a snakeskin or hammock sleeve that you can order to size like this. It's held up for several years, and I'm a 4 season hammock camper.
