The Single Skin, sometimes called a snake skin, provides a simple way to store and deploy your tarp without removing it from the ridgeline. Slide the skin over the tarp for storage, then pull it back when you're ready to deploy your shelter.

Choose from tapered or non-tapered designs and two widths to accommodate everything from lightweight backpacking tarps to bulkier fabrics and larger shelters.

Features

  • Choice of tapered or non-tapered design
  • Standard and Wide versions available
  • Drawstring closure helps keep the tarp contained
  • Optional end pockets provide storage for tarp ridgeline cords
  • Available in multiple lengths

Choosing Your Style

Tapered — A streamlined option that works particularly well with lightweight tarp fabrics. Approximately 5.5" wide at the standard opening or 7" in the Wide version, tapering to approximately 1.5".

Non-Tapered — Provides additional room throughout the entire skin and works well with bulkier tarps and fabrics such as DCF. Available in approximately 5.5" Standard or 7" Wide versions.

Choosing Your Width

Standard — Suitable for most standard-width backpacking tarps.

Wide — Provides additional room for bulkier materials and larger tarps, including DCF, Silpoly XL, and Xenon Wide.

Pocket Option

Optional pockets at the ends provide a convenient place to store tarp ridgeline cords and help keep them contained when the tarp is packed away.

Notes

Sil fabric Single Skins may include a seam where sections of fabric are joined together. This reduces material waste and helps control cost without affecting the function of the finished product.
