If you hate trying to set up a tarp in the wind, a pair of Skins is for you. They allow you to string up a hammock or tarp in the wind before taking them out of the flys(stuff sacks). That way, the wind is not whipping them around.

Features:

  • Choose from a variety of fabrics/weights/sizes
    - Sil versions of the flys may have a seam in the body of the skins.
  • Drawstring at wide ends to secure
  • Available in several lengths including Asym - designed specifically for the Simplicity Asym tarp
  • Designed to have some overlap in the middle to ensure complete enclosure of tarp in stuff sack
  • I can also make to custom sizes upon request
  • Width: 4" at wide end and taper to 1.5"
  • Work well with newer lightweight tarp fabrics
  • If you have a bulkier tarp fabric(such as Xenon Wide or Silpoly XL), choose the Wide width.  Non tapered is best for Dyneema Tarps.

Optional Feature:

  • Guyline pockets at the head/foot ends (they are on the narrow end, so not much space for any hardware, just line

Customer review

Iv'e used elastic bands & sometimes with a good wind it starts to unravel the tarp when not on use.

Iv'e also used other brand tarp skins that were way to baggy for my tarp.

With further investigation on SLD's site i found the asym tap skins that are made specifically for my sld tarp.

WOW! not only do these weigh nothing , it's simple to use & backs off & slides back on with ease.

It has cord & cord lock to cinch the tarp skins backed off or when deployed to hold in place.

Customer review

I am very impressed with my second set of SLD Quick Fly stuff sacks. The parcel containing this item arrived in my mailbox just 70 hours after I placed my order online, which astounds me. I ordered my Quick Fly stuff sack in Multicam silnylon for my SLD Simplicity Asym tarp; Jared makes a version of the sack specifically for this tarp since, being a cat-cut parallelogram, the Simplicity has a very long 140" ridge line across the diagonal but very minimal bulk, so it needs a long, skinny set of skins to hold it properly. Jared has the Asym version of the Quick Fly dialed in perfectly; it has exactly as much material as is needed to hold the tarp comfortably with virtually no excess, and my set came in at under an ounce -- just 26 grams (about 1/3 the weight of the competition's "XL" skins). Well done! Thanks again.

Customer review

First off. This is hands down the best customer service I've had period. I've had all my questions answered lightning fast! On to the tarp sleeve. I went with a small for simplicity asym tarp. I let Jared know what tarp I would be using it for. Needless to say it fits like a glove and I couldn't be any more pleased. I also went with the ridgeline pockets. The best part is that is that it still fits it the tarp stuffsack no problem. I will be back, thanks Jared!

Customer review

I originally ordered these to use with my asym tarp. I ended up using them on my Treerunner DL hammock instead. The quick fly's keep my hammock out of the way while I am cooking or just hanging out under the tarp. When I'm ready to go to sleep I just pull back the quick fly's and I am good to go. I ordered the large quick fly's and they swallow my hammock whole but they still do their job well. As always the craftsmanship is amazing.
